Kathryn Newton, star of "Ant-Man," revealed that Bill Murray approached her asking if he could be part of the franchise

Joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the 72-year-old actor will portray a governor in the Quantum Realm 

Murray called her after they played golf together

In "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," the MCU welcomes new faces, including Kathryn Newton, who will star as Cassie Lang.

Bill Murray, the iconic star of "Ghostbusters," joins the franchise as a governor in the Quantum Realm.

Meanwhile, William Jackson Harper of "The Good Place" fame will portray a new character named Quaz

On Thursday's "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Newton disclosed that Murray approached her inquiring about the possibility of starring in the Marvel film

After appearing together in a golf match on TV at Pebble Beach in California, the actor reached out to Newton with a call

Newton stated that despite several cast members being golfers, they couldn't play together due to bad weather in the UK filming location and a demanding production schedule

Newton's recalled - "A couple of months later, her mother informed her, 'Kathryn, Bill Murray is on the line for you
